Turismo Miño
The incorporation of the Senda dos Sentidos into the green infrastructure of the Miño council, allows us to cover the 3 km. that separate the Porto de Miño from Ponte do Porco.
We leave the Parque de A Rúa (km 0) next to the Tourism office and we go down the Estrada da Praia until we see on the left hand the big white letters of Miño, so much photographed by the neighbors and visitors. We descend to the left towards the port.
Our route starts next to the Parque infantil (children's playground) (780 m). The port is connected to Praia da Ribeira by the promenade, where we find the facilities of the Club Deportivo Naútico de Miño (900 m.) dedicated to the promotion of canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. Passing through the Bio-healthy Park (1.050 km.) we can practice flexibility and muscle toning exercises. Nearby there is an explanatory panel describing the creatures that inhabit the estuary and how to enjoy them while taking care of the ecosystem.
On the promenade, we pass by the lifeguard hut and the public toilets, both of which are in seasonal operation. The riverside beach is one of the beaches of Miño without smoke, did you know about that?

We turn left (1.400 m.) at the end of the walk towards the signpost of the Senda dos Sentidos, Special Conservation Area Zec Betanzos - Mandeo, within Red Natura 2000. The panel at the entrance to the route shows the points of interest. The route meanders along the orography of the coast between tunnels of laurel, chestnut, and oak trees. We can smell the scent of the laurel trees mixed with that of the sea. The scrub vegetation provides food and shelter for a multitude of birds. If we keep silent, we can hear the trills of the musical chiffchaff, the stonechat, and the wren. A real gift of nature. Sitting on its benches we feel the spell of the beauty that surrounds us.
It has five natural viewpoints where you can enjoy the panoramic views over the Betanzos estuary. Their names are inspired by the vegetation and orography of the place: Mirador de la Ondalonga, do Salgueiro (2,150 m.), dos Loureiros, do Carballo, da Punta do Gafo (2.600 m.).
We can find blackberries, elderberries, hawthorn, and blackthorn and acorns in springtime or ferns and mushrooms in autumn. The presence of fruit trees such as walnut, pear, and apple trees are witnesses of old orchards that have been forgotten for more than half a century.

The path descends after Punta do Gafo to the beach via some wooden steps (2,600 m.). We cross Praia da Alameda, enjoying the beauty of the surroundings. Its dune system is the most outstanding habitat, with the characteristic marran grass which is adapted to the sand and withstands high salinity and strong winds. The riverside vegetation is populated by alders, hazelnuts, and willow trees. Meanwhile, rushes and bulrushes grow in the nearby wetlands. It has an unmatched richness.
The beach leads to the wooden walkways (2,900 m.) where we can see a huge eucalyptus tree on the left. It dates from the middle of the 19th century, making it one of the first to arrive in Galicia. A perfect specimen to embrace nature. Several panels describe the wildlife in the area, how it is protected, and how to look after it.
Silence is requested so as not to disturb the birds, and pets should be kept on a leash at all times, as they pose a threat to the conservation of the fauna. The absence of litter bins is no coincidence, as any rubbish deposit attracts wild animals that can spread it. It is everyone's responsibility to collaborate in the maintenance of a place with such special values.
