The patron saint of sailors
The procession in honour of the Virgin of Carmen of Miño is celebrated annually on July 16th.
At around 8.30 in the evening, the procession starts from the Church of Santa María de Miño carrying the Virgin of Carmen adorned with floral offerings.
The route starts in Carreira street, goes down the Estrada da Praia and ends at the Port of Miño. It is accompanied by parades with music.
On arrival at the port, the Eucharist is celebrated outside in honour of the patron saint of sailors, with performance by the rondalla and choir of the Asociación Castro de Miño (cultural, sports and recreational association O Castro de Miño).
From 10 p.m. the celebration continues with the tasting of different products of the Miño fishermen's guild with other local products.
The carmen in Callobre
The parish of Callobre also celebrates the Carmen festivities throughout the weekend. They venerate the image of the virgin, which they carry around the atrium.
After the solemn mass at midday, they organise a vermouth session enlivened by the performance of musical bands, children's parties and activities for the whole family, neighbours and friends.family, neighbours and friends. The Campo da Festa of Callobre is crowded on these dates, full of joy and fun.
