The feira da Cebola Chata de Miño is a celebration of this product that is held on the first weekend of August. It is an annual event and has been held uninterruptedly since 1999.
Onion Chata: extraordinary properties
The onion plant Allium cepa is a vegetable (edible plants including vegetables and legumes). In the region of Miño it has adapted in a unique way due to its special conditions, both in terms of climate and soil, giving its bulb unique characteristics.
The Cebola Chata de Miño or de Plato is a local variety of onion "paja virtudes", which, due to the formation cycle of its bulb, belongs to the group of the medium early ones, it is neither early nor late, it is very Galician. Its bulb grows more in width than in height, which is the reason for its name. This vegetable is tender, with a mild flavour that pleases everyone who tastes it.
The chata de Miño is an unbeatable onion for both gastronomic and preventive use, being a great ally for our health.

This fair is very popular in the region, attracting people from all over the region. It is held from early in the morning with the traditional market of fruit, vegetables, local products and handicrafts. The stalls are decorated for the occasion, with special emphasis on onion strings and other onion decorations, which are improved and diversified every year.
The chata is the star product of the day, with a wide variety of homemade empanadas to be tasted, and every year there are many gastronomic activities related to this product: cooking workshops, tastings and pairings, recipe competitions...

All the stalls are decorated for the occasion, creating a special atmosphere around this unique vegetable.
Throughout the day there are parades, music, activities for children and adults, demonstrations of traditional trades and tasty food stalls around the Rabazal market.
