The history of this monument is full of anecdotes.
In 1963 the Real Academia de Bellas Artes Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) of A Coruña decided to install a monument in honor of Fernán Pérez de Andrade O Boo, as protector of letters and the arts, according to a project by the academicians Luis Quintans Goyanes and Francisco Vales Vilamartín, the latter originally from the neighboring municipality of Paderne.
The monument was to be inaugurated by the Duquesa de Alba and Condesa de Andrade, Doña Cayetana de Orujo, but the event was canceled and the work was forgotten.
It was not until 1976 that two neighbors of Ponte do Porco located the monument in Teo (Santiago), in the orchard of its author, the academic and sculptor Alfonso Sanmartín.
The following year, on 13th December 1977, it was inaugurated with the attendance of the academicians of the Royal Academy of Our Lady of the Rosary, with the delegate of the Government (Domingo García-Sabell), mayors of the area, and numerous members of the public.
Recently, in 2021, the children's playground and the garden area were extended, giving the whole complex the name of Fernán Pérez de Andrade O Boo Park.
Being located on the Camino Inglés (English Way), it has become a monument of international importance, photographed by mobile phones from all over the world. Very close to the square is the Ponte do Porco, with the legend of Roxín Roxal.
At playa de la Alameda (Alameda Beach), we can enjoy an environment of great natural value, and one of the oldest eucalyptus trees in Galicia.
Continuing along the road parallel to the river Lambre we can enjoy the Ruta dos Muíños do río Medio, and on the way, we can see the medieval bridge of the river Lambre.
